Joi McMillon is an American film editor, known for her work on the critically acclaimed films Moonlight, If Beale Street Could Talk, and Zola.
In 2017, she was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Film Editing (shared with Nat Sanders). McMillon was the first Black woman to be nominated for an Oscar for film editing. She also made history as the Spirit Awards, where she became the first Black woman to take home the prize for best film editing.
McMillon had over 10 years of preparation in the industry as an assistant editor before she joined the Moonlight production team with former film-school classmates Nat Sanders, her co-editor, and director Barry Jenkins. McMillon is attached as editor in Barry Jenkins' upcoming Untitled Lion King Prequel.
